Receivers

To live up to our self-imposed accuracy and dependability standards we must have control of the parts that we use to make our rifles. We realized this in the mid-eighties and began a long effort to make in-house what we needed to create a super rifle that we were willing to put our name on every time. The first receiver that carried the Jarrett name was manufactured by Nesika. It is a very good quality two lug stainless receiver. We continue to use them on certain applications. In January of 2000, we began engineering a receiver we planned to make in house. After many years of stripping all kinds of receivers, and trying to make them mechanically perfect for our rifles, we knew what we wanted. To admit a little vanity here, we knew if we made a receiver it would have to be very special. If it wasn't, we’d get booed off the stage! Our whole purpose was something better, more user friendly. With the help of a very talented young man by the name of Mike Irwin, we spent about a year and a half perfecting our action. From this effort came the Jarrett Tri-Lock receiver.

Jarrett Tri-Lock Receiver
Why should you want a Jarrett Tri-Lock receiver on your rifle? First, it’s a receiver with nothing but positive features that’s flawlessly dependable. The action has three lugs rather than two so we have 50% more sectional area. The cartridges are unilaterally supported at three points rather than two. Rigid lock up. The action has no stamping, broaching, or welding anywhere on it. This eliminates metal distortion and stresses. The Tri-Lock is made of the toughest space age steel. The bolt throw is a lightning fast 60-degrees. This provides greater clearance between the bolt and the scope, a great asset to guys with big hands! The action has a rear guide bushing which seals the action while firing. The bolt lugs interlock with the rails for the true-in-line precision feeding. The Jarrett Tri-Lock has interchangeable feed rails (the only one in the industry) to interface the in-line feeding system. Semi-integral recoil lug for switch barrel capabilities. We could go on and on, but the point is the Jarrett Tri-Lock is truly a “better mousetrap.” The Tri-Lock is presently long action standard bolt face or magnum. Some future additions to the Tri-Lock model would be a Rigby boltface receiver, and a left hand receiver. These are options we will look at if there is enough interest shown.

Jarrett Short Action Receiver

Our priority when we started making receivers was a long action magnum and a standard, simply because they are our biggest sellers. Early in 2005, we introduced our short action receiver. We were buying custom short actions bearing our name that worked well before we created our own. To get on line as quickly as possible, a very tight tolerance two lug design was chosen using some parts and ideas from the tri-lock. Our long term goal is to make the short action a full-blown "little brother" to the tri-lock in every way. After seeing the tremendous success of the tri-lock in the hunting fields, it's a no-brainer. In 2008, we added machinery to our CNC shop to help us make the final transition. The fact that many of the parts we make work on both receivers speeds production.

The different configurations we offer in our short actions are all standard bolt face cartridges. This includes everything from .308 to 17 Remington. We do not advocate
or recommend any of the short magnums. We view them as a marketing ploy that usually fades away in a short time. Our actions can be repeater with a blind magazine
or with a trapdoor. We also offer them in a single shot. If you are in need of a single shot PPC receiver on you benchrest rifle or a 7mm-08 repeater for your deer stalker rifle,
we’ve got it.

"Our actions are made from the very best materials.
Our in-house manufacturing integrity is time proven. Whatever we make,
our pride, our customer's satisfaction and his joy of ownership is at stake."
