Long Ranger Rifle

“ When we heard sheep hunters say they needed a legitimate
800 hundred yard rifle, we took up the challenge and created the Long Ranger.”

LONG RANGER RIFLE SPECS

As more and more hunters pursue the big Marco Polo and Argali sheep, the animals have become increasingly skittish in their difficult terrain. Once taken at 600 yards with the 300 Jarrett using 165 gr. and 180 gr. bullets, something else was now needed to bridge the greater distances. We love a challenge, so the new project was coded the “Long Ranger.”

At 800 yards, bullets of 190 gr. to 220gr. are needed for both their ballistic co-efficiency advantage and their energy levels. Because of the bullet’s length and longer throat in front of the chamber, a repeater wasn’t possible. The solution was a single shot Tri-Lock using our thirty caliber barrel with an increased rate of twist from 1-12 to 1-9. It all worked, and the Long Ranger is lethal at the advertised distances.

Next, we decided to offer the Long Ranger in two models, a heavy barrel target model and a hunting version. The target model, weighing about 12 pounds with a big target scope, features a 9 twist barrel. It has our heavy varmint taper barrel at 27 inches with a muzzle brake. It has a Jewel trigger set at 6 oz. with safety. The rifle shoots extremely well with velocities at 3100 feet per second using a 200 gr. bullet producing 4 inch, three shot groups at 800 yards from a sandbag rest. To turn some heads at the range, select the marksman version of the Long Ranger. Some competitors have chosen a bright stock and had all the metal highly polished – or choose from our proprietary colors in metal and stock finishes.

Technically, the second model of the Long Ranger is the same concept, but the rifle is light enough to hunt with and carry. It features the single shot Tri-Lock action, and a 3 taper Jarrett barrel at 26 inches with a muzzle brake. For weight reduction, choose the Kevlar/fiberglass stock we use on our Ridge Walker. With a variable one-inch scope, the rifle weighs in around 8 pounds.

Both the heavy target and the lighter weight hunting versions are set up for one cartridge, the Jarrett 300 (long throat). When you receive your rifle, 20 test rounds based on our load development for your particular rifle will accompany it. For a range fee, we can match a trajectory reticle scope to the exact ballistics of your Long Ranger.

Naturally, both versions come with our 30 day satisfaction guarantee, or return the rifle for a full refund. If long distance hunting or competition is your game, join the 800 Yard Club with the selection of the Jarrett Long Ranger!
